Abstract
Valuable metals in printed circuit boards (PCB) can be recovered with precipitated lead during reduction melting of cathode ray tube (CRT) glass with PCB. Molten lead is obtained from the CRT lead glass by reduction melting, and the lead has the property of collecting coexisting metals. From the results of melting experiments using actual waste of CRT glass and PCB, 100% of Cu and Ni, 81% of Ag, and 73% of Au were recovered from the added PCB. This process can treat CRT glass and PCB together and simultaneously recover metal resources. Recovery of metals is possible in small plants at locations far from copper smelters.
