Abstract
This paper firstly examines efficiency of shift scheduling of truck drivers whose number has been dramatically decreasing in recent years. In Freight Operation, burdened with a legal duty, the truck operation managers should deal with its scheduling, but it is tightly complicated, even for the qualified and experienced persons in charge. Thus, this paper analyzes the actual situations and problems on making of a crew assignment, and offers a formulation as a solution. Also, this study examines an introduction of junction transportation as the truck driver reduction measure using a computer simulation. The results showed the truck drivers’ burdens could be reduced after the introduction.
