Co-phase Traction Power Supply with Railway Hybrid Power Quality Conditioner

Abstract

This chapter introduces more flexible design technique for Railway HPQC in co-phase traction power for varying load. In the content, improvement of Railway HPQC performance under varying load is achieved by three different design approaches, namely, raising Railway HPQC operation voltage; redefining the coupled impedance of Railway HPQC by impedance-mapping technique; and having adaptive change in the operation voltage. PSCAD simulation results show the effectiveness of all three approaches. Preliminary experimental results are obtained from laboratory-scaled hardware prototype to show the effectiveness of the design.
