Abstract
In this chapter, the concepts of sampling distribution are introduced. The meaning of a sampling distribution is illustrated with examples in order to provide the users with fundamental concepts in a step-by-step procedure. The sampling distributions of mean for both small and large samples are discussed. The underlying assumptions about the distributions from which the samples are drawn and about the population variance are also highlighted. Similarly, the sampling distributions of difference between two means along with the underlying assumptions about the populations are shown with examples. The sampling distributions of sample proportion and difference between two proportions are discussed with examples. The sampling distributions included in this chapter are normal, t, chi-square, and F-distributions.
