Abstract
Tahir-Kheli recounts unusual experiences of a female aspiring to become a graduate student at a major American university at a time when International Relations was still very much a man’s field. Navigating the thicket of academic life at the same time making a new life as newlyweds reflects the multitasking needs intrinsic to successful woman professionals. Road travel though American cities explores positive interactions with people in a variety of fields in multiple settings. Garnering an M.A. in a year allows first exposure to professional life as a junior research assistant in a major foreign policy institute led by a well-known strategic thinker, Robert Strausz-Hupe.
