Abstract
The Fontan surgeries with intra-atrial lateral tunnel and with extracardiac conduit are comparable in postoperative outcomes. In the past, patients with increased pulmonary vascular resistance, mild to moderate heart insufficiency were not considered for Fontan surgery candidates. The fenestration procedure can be performed on both Fontan methods to offer these patients the opportunity to undergo Fontan surgery.
