Abstract
Mapping of active faults and their characterization will provide the first direct constraints in a region known to have earthquakes. There is an inherent relationship between active faults and earthquakes. Satellite image calibration, creation of epipolar geometry of stereopair data and DEM, active faults identifications, anaglyph perspective for 3D visualization of active fault and map productions have been discussed with flowchart. Geomorphic and field criteria for identification of active faults, and characterization of active faults using trenching (Paleoseismology) across the fault scarp have been presented with illustration.
