Abstract

Mechanical pulping process is an energy-intensive process. Enzyme treatment of wood and pulp is an attractive alternative to reduce energy demand in the refining process and to introduce novel functional properties of fibers. This chapter discusses the use of enzymes in mechanical pulping process.
