Abstract
In view of the very small propagation losses for light guided via high-purity optical fibers drawn from highly transparent glasses with linear attenuation coefficients below 10−4–10−5 cm−1, one could think of the necessity to develop extremely sensitive measurement procedures detecting internal losses in such fibers.
