Abstract
India’s economy grows, with time, and so does its demand for energy. Rapid industrialization, within last few decades, has led to economic growth, but it has caused over-exploitation of natural resources. Along with an alarming depletion of natural resources, India is having its share in global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As a result, India, sadly, is also responsible, when it comes to global climate change caused by anthropogenic reasons. However, an awareness of the aforementioned fact has stimulated a positive response from Indian organizations in the form of specific energy consumption reduction, implantation of emission control technology, and treatment of liquid and solid waste. Voluntary initiatives, which add to an organization’s cost and energy-saving measures, including renewable energy utilization, adoption of energy-efficient techniques, and adoption of energy conservation measures, have been undertaken. Following report highlights, various techniques, to reduce energy consumption, have been adopted by designated consumers and organizations in India.
