Abstract

Bottle gourd, one of the most important vegetable, has been reported to be affected by several bacterial, fungal and viral diseases. So far 10 viruses, some of them with two or more strains, have been reported naturally occurring on bottle gourd from various part of the world. During survey, different isolates of mosaic diseases were collected out of two distinct isolates showing characteristic mild and severe symptoms were selected for detailed studies in respect of their physical properties of bottle gourd. Lagenaria siceraria, one of the crops of bottle gourd, is a popular vegetable grown almost all the year round in different parts of India.
