Abstract
Breast autologous fat graft requires a large amount of fat and know-how in:
-
1.
Liposuction
-
2.
Fat harvesting
-
3.
Fat injection
If the surgeon is lacking in even one of these three areas, he or she cannot perform a successful and satisfactory breast fat graft.
Selecting a suitable patient is also important.
Sufficient fat from should be obtained by liposuction from the patient. The patient should also have a moderate amount of volume in the breasts. It is not good if the patient’s breasts are too small. These conditions increase the patient’s satisfaction after the breast fat graft operation has been performed.
The three questions below would be the most curious points for a doctor who encounters a breast fat graft for the first time:
-
1.
What kinds of patients should undergo this operation?
-
2.
What is the survival rate like for breast fat graft?
-
3.
Is a breast fat graft really safe?
I would like to explain these points and my know-how with regard to breast fat graft.
Autologous breast fat graft is not yet a standard surgical method. It solely depends on the practitioner’s skill and facilities where the operation takes place.
I personally think that efficiency research on breast fat grafts is needed from a long-term perspective, and long-term observations for complications of breast fat grafts and a relationship with breast cancer are needed as well.
