Abstract
UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 concerns ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being of all. More awareness campaigns and non-formal training programmes are needed for community health workers and the broader community to eradicate the significant burden of death, disease and disability in the developing countries. This chapter examines the ways in which costs can be reduced, reach extended and effectiveness increased by using a combination of open, distance and mobile learning and open resources to improve detection, prevention, and treatment and keep communities healthy and secure.
