Abstract

Enteral route is the preferred route to provide nutrients for growth and development, however if its unavailable for more than five days or is contributing to less than 50 percent of the daily nutritional requirnment; giving nutrition through parenteral route becomes important. Parenteral nutrition may provide for total nutritional requirnments or it could be supportive to enteral nutrition.
