Abstract
A self-mutilated severed finger is when the patient cuts his own finger off if he or she has an emotional disorder, depression or is intoxicated. It is characterized by the following:
-
(a)
Most cases are young men with a bad temper.
-
(b)
Most fingers severed in this way comprise the middle and final segments of the left little finger.
-
(c)
The wound is smooth with no other injuries, which makes it easy to replant.
-
(d)
The patient does not cooperate with treatment for a long time as he or she has so many negative emotions such as regret, angry, and guilt.
-
(e)
The replantation is easier compared with other replantations, but postoperative nursing is more difficult because of the patients’ noncompliance.
