Transcatheter Paravalvular Leak Closure

Abstract

Transcatheter closure (TPLVC) has become a safe, feasible, and efficient approach in the treatment of patients with heart failure and hemolysis related to paravalvular leaks (PVLs) on surgical valve prostheses. It has been accepted as an alternative to redoing surgery in patients with a high risk of reoperation and favorable anatomy in the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology 2014 Guidelines for the Management of Patients with Valvular Heart Disease [1, 2] as a class IIa indication (level of evidence B).
