Abstract

Anthropogenic impacts on lake-catchment systems are found everywhere in the modern period as well as historical period. Environmental changes in lake-catchment systems due to dam construction for electrical power (Riyuetan system in Taiwan) and for erosion control (Kawauso-ike system) and due to channel construction for water control (Lake Yogo system) are introduced. Recent environmental changes due to reclamations (Lake Onuma system and Kawa-ike system in Kobe, Japan) and livestock are also examined in Lake Onuma system.
