Abstract

  1. 1.

HRCT (High resolution CT) with thin (2 mm) cuts has been the imaging modality of choice for early laryngeal cancer.

  2. 2.

MR was traditionally used more for problem-solving in difficult situations; however in recent times, MR has established itself as a useful tool in the evaluation of early cancers, especially when deciding between trans-oral laser excision versus external radiation as treatment modality.

  3. 3.

In advanced cancers, CT is generally preferred to assess cartilage involvement and extra-laryngeal spread.

  4. 4.

MR scores over CT in assessing both subclinical nodal disease and to visualize the character of larger nodes to help differentiate metastatic involvement from reactive changes.
