Abstract

This chapter is the last case study related to hiking explorations of spatial use in Singapore. It focuses on the eastern sector of Singapore. Some comparative perspectives with its western counterpart and the central catchment areas are made here. Like the Central Catchment area and Southern Ridges, the East Coast Parkway is a peripheral space deliberately kept free from excessive urbanization but with enough accessibility for members of the public through eco-friendly park corridors, treetop walks, gravel footpaths, bridges made of hardwood and well-situated staircases, and with enough secondary forested canopies or park-planted shrubs to satisfy a diverse array of stakeholders.
