Abstract
The present chapter is based on notes that were primarily made on cards with the heading “Processing the manuscript.” These were the cards Vygotsky used in the last months of his life (see also the next chapter). The main theme of the notes is play as a leading activity in the preschool period and the semantic field as an independent plane of the child’s free action.
