Majorana Fermions in Topological Insulators

Abstract
A Majorana fermion is a particle that is its own antiparticle. This type of particle can appear as an end state in a one-dimensional topological superconductor or as a bound state induced by a half quantized vortex in a two-dimensional topological superconductor.
