Abstract

The effect of fibre inclusions on strength and stiffness behaviours of soil is explained through the role of fibres as a reinforcement element. This chapter explains the basic soil reinforcing mechanisms and describes the models of fibre-reinforced soils for predicting their behaviour. Some numerical studies as reported in the literature are also summarised.
