Abstract
Shalom is a Hebrew word, often used in the Hebrew Bible, and it is typically translated as “peace.” The new capacity of teacher is the teacher who employs her gifts, her training, and her love for children, as a craftsperson of shalom. After analyzing the term shalom in an educational setting, this chapter addresses five suggestions of how shalom can inform the teacher’s practice.
All your children will be taught by the L ord , and great will be their peace.
(Isaiah 54: 13)
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.
(John 16: 33)
