Abstract
The concluding chapter summarizes the core arguments of the text and, on this basis, suggests alternative ways in which cities could think about graffiti writing. With a brief look at trends in European urban centers, it is suggested that cities in the USA and other parts of the world would benefit by working with graffiti writers to produce art and murals in shared public spaces. The work ethic of writers could be utilized to minimize state expenditures on graffiti removal and simultaneously enhance the aesthetics of the urban environment. Ending on a fairly pessimistic note, the conclusion acknowledges that the odds of incorporating graffiti into civic life are hampered due to the benefits that political elites see in antigraffiti rhetoric and practice.
