$$ \left( {\begin{array}{*{20}c} a & b \\ c & d \\ \end{array} } \right)z = \frac{az + b}{cz + d} $$

defines as action of \( {\text{GL}}_{2}^{ + } ({\mathbb{R}}) \) on \( {\mathbb{H}} \).
