Abstract

Radioactive source terms at nuclear power plants varies due to different operation condition. During cold shutdown process, oxygenation operation is taken to reduce the radioactive source term activity raised by sharpen pressure and temperature changes in pipes and equipments, thus factors such as oxygenation process, working condition, significant time point need to be considered for a conservative yet reasonable result of shielding source term calculation. Taking RHR system for example, this paper focuses on the theoretical analysis of appropriate shielding source terms considering oxygenation operation under cold shutdown condition. The effects of oxygenation operation on source terms especially on corrosion products are analyzed, and an acceptable result consisting with the principle-optimization of radiation protection is suggested.
