Abstract
In this chapter, I pursue an argument that Singapore’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) system—a private, marketised and even corporatised system, is in need of policy intervention and re-thinking because of increasing social inequities within a meritocratic climate that largely emphasises individual choice and responsibility for one’s success.
