Abstract
We shall be concerned, in this chapter, with Schubert varieties in SL n (k)/B, where B is a Borel subgroup containing a maximal torus T in SL n (k). To begin with, in section 1, we compute the dimension of the tangent space at the T-fixed points of a Schubert variety X(τ); this essentially describes the singular locus of X(τ).
