From the preceding discussions, beyond the challenges, limitations, and suppression faced by China as it moves towards the oceans, we can see that first of all, the fundamental truth that the dream of the great renewal of the Chinese nation is being limited by the sea. The oceans can turn at any time from a key pillar of development to our Achilles heel in terms of security and the springboard for damaging action by competing nations.
