Abstract
Through a creative methodology that examines identities, social networks (friendship groups) and digital technologies, Gomes provides a much-needed understanding of the everyday lives of transient migrants. Gomes makes a compelling case for looking at Australia and Singapore as case studies when discussing transient migration. She explains that while both these countries have similar colonial heritages and multicultural populations, they are also magnets for transient migrants for different reasons. Australia attracts international students and working holiday makers while Singapore is a hub for white-collar workers due to the abundant job opportunities available in the city-state.
