Abstract

This chapter aims to discuss the pertinent issues that arose and were deliberated upon by the team in the design and delivery of Teaching Living Legends, a professional development programme which commenced with collaborative resource development leading to the conceptualisation and implementation of a five-day workshop for music teachers teaching at primary and secondary levels (students between the ages seven and fourteen). Teaching Living Legends supports the national syllabus’ (MOE, 2015) aims to deepen students’ knowledge of living music traditions and takes cognisance of larger discussions on world music pedagogy, ethnomusicological approaches, and multicultural education.
