Abstract

A mathematical ecogenetic model of competition type is presented. The system behavior is completely assessed, either analytically when possible or through numerical simulations. No sustained oscillations are possible, while the equilibria of the system are linked via a chain of transcritical bifurcations. The most important result of the investigation shows that the principle of competitive exclusion is possibly violated in suitable situations.
