Abstract
The global economy is currently facing challenges in relation to the poor performance of economies globally from both developed and developing countries. It is noted that the global market environment has become complex and difficult to predict. At the national level, countries are investing in various aspects like advanced technologies and talent to strengthen their global position within the global economy and enhance economic growth, yet, the global market environment is still volatile. Therefore this chapter highlights the nature of the global market environment, which requires a knowledge integration perspective in order to sustain the competitive advantage of the 21st century. It provides strategic leadership practices approach to address the challenges associated with the global market environment drivers such as technologies and globalization of manufacturing, to name but few. Furthermore, the chapter emphasizes on strategic leadership practices through knowledge integration perspective for sustainable competitive advantage. Finally, the chapter proposes strategic leadership practices that are applicable at national and organizational levels to sustain competitive advantage.
