Abstract

In 1966, Gordon Ellis, Hidemi Sato, and I left our unfulfilled aspirations at the Dartmouth Medical School and moved to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. As we established the Program in Biophysical Cytology in the Biology Department there, Bertha and Ralph Woodward, Bob Knudson and his family, and Dick Markley moved to Philadelphia with us. Geoff Pollitt, on the other hand, was hired by Keith Porter to become the first business manager for the Biology Department at Harvard.
