Abstract

The present book described the quality assurance system of higher education in China and explored the impact of external quality assessment on institutional transformation. Referring to the empirical results of the Chinese higher education quality assessment schemes and the related theories, a model was produced to describe how external quality assessment impinges on the evaluated institutions to generate change. The final chapter reviews the research journey of this book and summarises the key arguments. It also indicates the contribution of this research, both at the theoretical and contextual levels. The limitations of this research are also specified and further improvement is suggested.
