Abstract

In this chapter, the clinical results of radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy with hyperthermia for the treatment of lung cancer were reviewed. Especially for the patients with superior sulcus tumors or lung cancer with chest wall invasion, the intra-tumor temperature could be elevated to therapeutic levels by the 8-MHz RF capacitive heating device. The correlations between the clinical outcomes and thermal parameters were observed. A randomized trial demonstrated that an adding of hyperthermia to radiotherapy showed a significant improvement in the local tumor control rate in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
