Abstract

Based upon the IS literature review, the information quality of applications seems to be related to the mental model that the application users hold as well as the interactivity with the applications. Furthermore, the mental model seems to influence the interactivity with the applications. However, a comprehensive IS literature review found that previous IS research have not shown much interest in those relationships especially in a smartphone context. Therefore, the goal of this study is to suggest a research model that can examine: 1) the effects that the quality of information has not only on the mental model of applications that users form and hold, but also on the interactivity with the given applications, and 2) the effect that the mental model of applications on the interactivity with the applications in a smartphone context. A survey was conducted, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was then used to analyze the data. The results found that the information quality of smartphone applications has not only direct effect on the mental model of the applications that smartphone users have, but also indirect effect on the interactivity with the smartphone applications.
