Ever since mankind began surveying areas and building, the need to measure circles has been important. For this task, we need π. As we know today, π is one of the most peculiar of numbers. It is not rational, but instead, irrational, and is a special kind of irrational number, called a transcendental number, meaning that it cannot be the solution of a polynomial equation with integer coefficients.
