Abstract

Welcome to the 1997 American Educational Studies Association Presidential Address. In the next hour I will discuss the complexities of interpretative/theoretical location, the local/global, and postcolonial analysis in the Southwestern Borderlands context. First I would like to recognize some persons who have made this moment possible, starting with all of you who are participating in this event for giving me the opportunity to serve as president of our organization.
