Abstract
Education prepares young people to participate in society. When civic participation is the explicit aim of learning, it is known as citizenship education. For educators, this is not a new task. Education has always been a formative influence in teaching students how to behave in society. When positively formulated, students learn how to participate in society; or students learn how they can contribute to society.
