Abstract

For people with intellectual and /or physical impairment, healthcare is inextricably a part of the overall care they receive on a day-to-day basis. Paid carers do not always know the people they are caring for very well and need to make considerable efforts to develop humane client/ healthcare worker relationships if they are to provide truly person-centred care.
