Abstract

Post-colonial universities in African countries were patterned on institutions in European countries of which they were former colonies. They had the same institutional and governance structure, the programmes and curricula were similar, the same European language was used for instruction and the African academic staff were mainly trained in Europe (Mohamedbhai, 2013).
