Abstract

I arrived in Montréal in 1968. I arrived by boat from Liverpool by Canadian Pacific, on the Empress of Canada, which was a boat which had carried many immigrants from the British Isles to Canada. The reason I went there was because I had a contract to teach in a college affiliated with Laurentian University in Sudbury. They were paying for the trip. It allowed me to transport our family goods, the furniture and so on. After a couple of days in Montréal, I continued by an overnight bus to Sudbury in Northern Ontario.
