Abstract
“Welcome to the ball you all,” a short young man says as we enter the auditorium hosting the dance the Saturday night before Christmas. Our senior year is halfway over, Jordan is eighteen years old, and Abs and I will catch up on him age-wise in a couple months. We walk into the dance smiling at the rainbow decorations and the sound of Brandy and Monica’s “The boy is mine.” Everywhere, people are dancing, talking, and just hanging out at tables or over by the food. It feels like a good night.
