Abstract
Along the Colombia–Ecuador border, Christian evangelization, mass immigration spurred by booms in the rubber and oil industries, the transnational presence of illegal armed groups financed by the illicit drug trade, and extortion and kidnappings are part of a shared history (O’Malley, 2010; Ramírez, 2012).
