Abstract
Within the context of relatively new Latina/o settlement in North Carolina and a two-way immersion dual language program, this qualitative study analyzes the role of Latina mothers’ in countering dominant discourses that rendered Latina/o childrearing practices as a hindrance to their children’s classroom participation and bilingual competence.
