Abstract
Chinese society has a reputation for valuing learning and education, which can be traced back to very early dynasties. The previous chapters have discussed some traits of Confucianism and its impact on Chinese people’s understandings of life and the world. Derived from the philosophical thoughts of Confucius (551 B.C.–479 B.C.), Confucianism has also promoted a series of educational viewpoints to both the ruling class and the civilians over thousands of years.
