Abstract
A dike can be described as a wall built to prevent flooding from a body of water. In the past when leaks would appear along the walls of the dike, citizens simply plugged the area to stop the water from flowing and flooding the area being protected. Remember the story of the little Dutch boy from Dr. Boli’s fables? In this story a little Dutch boy discovered a leak in the dike near his home. He struggled over what to do if the dike were to break his entire world as he knew it would be flooded with everyone that he knew and loved would drown.
