Abstract

Because Twitter and other social media sites are relatively new at this point in time, their applications for education and their roles in our lives are still developing. As noted in the previous chapter, research into how students, teachers, and scholars use Twitter and other forms of social networking is of paramount importance as more teachers turn to social media outlets for professional development, including persona and identity development—even if those public selves are not developed intentionally.
