Abstract
Increasing global competition for students has witnessed an ever more rapid internationalization of higher education. In the case of the UK, there has been a major influx of Chinese students to British universities since the launch of the British Government’s long-term worldwide educational campaign in 1999. Drawing upon evidence from a number of studies led by the author in the last decade, this chapter will examine the nature of Chinese students’ transitional experiences both in terms of their maturation and human development and their intercultural adaptation within a different educational environment and a different culture and society.
